Compensation for
Road Rash

We've got your claim covered

When it comes to cycling accidents, the most common forms of injury are caused by a fall from the bike. Generally when this happens you will either fall directly onto the ground or you will slide for a short period of time before coming to an abrupt halt, as a result you may be left with road rash.

Road rash happens as the result of friction between a hard surface and your skin, it can be minor or serious depending on how heavy your impact is with the surface and it could leave you with anything from minor lacerations to deep cuts through your tissue.

When it comes to making a claim, no matter how large or small your road rash injury might be, if it was caused through the negligence of another person then you may be eligible to make a claim for compensation to cover any costs that you have incurred.

What could I claim for?

  • Personal injury costs – if you receive road rash injuries through the negligence of another person then you could be eligible to make a claim to recoup any medical expenses which you incur as a result.
  • Loss of income – if you are unable to work or you are unable to return to work as the result of road rash then you could be eligible to make a claim for the income loss of any time which you may have to take off work, or any further income which you may lose as a result
  • Damages – although it may not seem like a large injury, abrasions and cuts of this style can leave scarring, especially if they are deep, and you could be left with serious skin deformation as a result you may be eligible to claim for damages.

What are some causes and symptoms of road rash?

Road rash occurs as the result of your skin grazing along the ground or another surface, causing friction between the two surfaces which can result in cuts and abrasions. Although this type of injury may not always lead to bleeding or physical scarring it can leave the victim in a great deal of pain as many nerve endings may be left exposed as a result of cuts and lacerations.

Who can I claim against?

Claims for road rash can be made against anyone who you feel has been negligent towards you. If you have been involved in an accident with a motor vehicle then it could be the vehicle’s driver. If you have been injured as the result of poor road maintenance then your claim could be made against the council.
